Allegany County S.N.I.P.

Stepping Stone Animal Society is proud to announce a new program to help qualifying low-income pet owners with the cost of spay/neuter surgeries.

What is S.N.I.P.?

S.N.I.P. is a program providing NO-COST spay/neuter surgeries for qualifying residents through a grant from the Maryland Department of Agriculture.

Who qualifies for S.N.I.P.?

S.N.I.P. is for Allegany County residents in the 21502 and 21532 zip codes with an income that is 10% below WIC guidelines or proof of government assistance.

The following Household Income Qualifications are based on WIC Guidelines, effective on January 1, 2015:

·         Single               $19,431
·         Family of 2          $26,191
·         Family of 3          $32,951
·         Family of 4          $39,711

Additional Family Members:  Add $6,750 per family member to the amount of a family of 4

What information do I need to apply?

We also need documentation showing residency in either the 21502 or 21532 zip codes. Qualifying documentation would include tax bills, utility bills, or government issued ID. We also need documentation of household income or proof of government assistance.

Proof of Income:

o   1040 income tax return from previous year
o   Proof of Social Security, food stamp card, or SSI benefits
o   Pay stubs from last 2 pay periods
o   All W-2 forms for family

We aren't able to process your application unless ALL documentation is included. Also, we can not accept P.O. boxes as proof of residency. 

Any vaccines or procedures (other than rabies or spay/neuter) are not covered under S.N.I.P. Payment will be required in advance for any additional vaccines, services or procedures.
